One Nigerian Boy takes You Behind The Scenes at Ruff 'n' Tumble

23A Isaac John Street, Ikeja G.R.A Lagos is the control center for the whole of Ruff ‘n’ Tumble’s operations around the country. A visit by a non insider to the premises would go away without seeing the operations and distribution channels located behind the main building that houses the store below and the parts of the factory and admin offices above.

Founder of Ruff ‘n’ Tumble Adenike Ogunlesi grants me exclusive entry to shoot her private space as well as the factory. Sit back and enjoy.

Malian Photographer Seydou Keita

I recently saw a few images of photographer Seydou Keïta who was born 1921 in Bamako, Mali and died November 21, 2001 in Paris, recently on one of my online treks and was blown away.  He was a self-taught portrait photographer who took amazing black and white portraits of people and families between 1940 and the early sixties. Andre Magnin director of the Contemporary African Art Collection, Paris and Geneva sought out the photographer on his own after some of his photographs surfaced in New York at an exhibition and were accredited as unknown…the rest is history. Seydou Keita photographs are now considered as pieces of art.

I stumbled upon a book of his portraits by Magnin at a friend Fauzi Fahm's library recently and I could not help but share these amazing photographs.

How to Spend it Magazine May Editorial

Sudanese model Alek Wek looks uber stunning in the May issue of How To Spend It magazine’s fashion editorial. This has got to be one of the best afrocentric themed styling I’ve seen and is something most stylists should aspire too. Images via Fashion Gone Rogue.

Backstage @ Lagos Fashion Week

The just concluded Lagos fashion week which was part of the Black Heritage Week that took place from the 6th -8th in Lagos, started with a few organizational flaws. The first day of events displayed organization that could be aptly termed “Bunkum” but the subsequent 2 days turned out better, as shows started as planned.
Backstage was buzzing with a bevy of beauties and make-up people scattered like a jigsaw puzzle and quite frankly it was somewhat of a tedium penetrating the cluster. The models were upbeat as food was aplenty and the whole vibe backstage was cool.

Lagos Carnival by Udoh Victor Augustine

Udoh Victor Augustine is one of Nigeria’s upcoming talents in the field of photography. His work speaks volumes and you realize how much effort has been put into retouching the photos. The vibrancy of colors at the carnival was captured beautifully albeit skillfully, the textures and use of light were absolutely fantastic. If I said this image hit me like a moving truck, I would not be exaggerating…ok maybe a wee bit :o]
