London based Nigerian designer Tsemaye Binitie who continues to be a beacon of hope for African designers with each collection recently released his spring summer 2011 collection. The collection is called 'cut out and keep' and was inspired by the paper fashion game of the same name. It features dresses and daytime separates that convey a 'down-town' cool. Tops are cropped, trousers are slim and dresses are cut out to reveal bare skin or contrasting fabrics. Silk crepes and organza, jersey, denim and leather come together with signature body conscious silhouettes to create a unique and contemporary collection.
The colour pallete for the collection came from a picture the designer saw in Vogue Nippon featuring Daria Werbowy naked in a field! So colours range from beige (straw), white (her teeth), blue (sky), yellow (flower), nude (skin) and black (chiffon top daria was wearing).
The label is dress focused and they have loads of different dresses for any girl to play with from a long silk jersey tank dress to a short cut out silk crepe dress. They also have some daytime separates; cropped tees in jersey and silk paired with waxed denim boot cut jeans, leather high waisted pants and washed silk crepe trousers.
